About The Selfish Giant and Jack:
The Selfish Giant and Jack is a delightful musical presented by students ages 9-15 years. Several musical and dance numbers are integrated into the story of the very Selfish Giant, adapted from Oscar Wilde's piece, along with the famous Jack and the Beanstalk story. Actors depict characters who reside in the giant's garden, which include stone walls, garden statues, and winter elements. Jack steals the giant's heart in order to soften it. However, when he returns it, he is caught like a "thief in the night" and taken to court. The court scene is a wild raucous that lands Jack back in the giant's very cold garden where he hopes and waits for the moment to win the giant over. The giant is portrayed with clever puppetry along with many other surprises throughout the production. A great show for all ages!
LOCATION and PARKING: Performances will be held at St. Teresa's Kaczmarek Hall (church basement) located at 36th and Randolph Streets. Parking is available in church and school parking lots.
ABOUT OUR THEATER: Padded folding chairs provide comfort, while seating in the round makes for a great view plus a fun and intimate atmosphere to watch our young performers. Patrons will be seated in a 3-level plan that allows leg room and great way to see everything. Due to space limitations, the show is recommended for children 4 and up who will need to purchase a ticket/seat. Children three and under may sit on laps, but must remain on a lap for the duration of each act. Our small theater is not suitable for wiggle room or extra noise. The show is approximately 2 hours in length with intermission. There is an elevator available in the church lobby for access to the basement for handicapped or elderly patrons. We have floor seating available for wheelchair or handicap seating as well. Bathrooms are available in the basement on the west end of hall or just off the lobby cry-room.
NOTE ON SEATING CHARTS: Due to our set designs slightly changing from show to show, the location of seats on the levels may appear in a slightly different position on the chart than in reality. Number of chairs per level is correct, but the division of chairs due to empty space (pillars) is slightly different. The stage areas include the main stage as seen on chart and the open floor areas in white.
WALK-INS: We have limited seating for walk-in patrons (no more than 10 seats). If we have no shows, those seats will become available for sale 2 minutes to showtime. Thank you.
IN CASE OF INCLEMENT WEATHER: In the case of inclement weather, shows will be rescheduled.
